President Leonel Fernandez has sworn in Pedro Julio Castellanos and Fernando Ferran as new members of the Ethics Commission. Castellanos replaces Ramon Tejada Holguin. The commission is chaired by lawyer Marino Vinicio Castillo. Castellanos is a former director of the government anti-corruption department. He resigned on the grounds that it had become ineffective. He is also the rector of UNAPEC University. Castellanos will represent civil society on the commission.
Ferran will be representing the National Business Council (Conep), previously represented by Celso Marranzini who is now in charge of the state electricity companies.
Both were appointed by Decree 103-10 of February 2010.
