The Dominican volleyball team will be matching arch-rival, the Cuban woman's volleyball team for the gold medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games taking place in Cartagena, Colombia. The DR won gold in the games in El Salvador in 2002, and won gold in the 2003 Pan American Games, defeating Cuba on both occasions. The Dominican delegation is ranked in 7th place, as of Thursday, 20 July. The DR had won four gold medals, 2 silver and 11 bronze.
