The executive vice-president of the State Electricity Companies (CDEEE), Celso Marranzini, revealed yesterday that the authorities had discovered an electricity fraud that was costing the CDEEE millions each month. The electricity theft in Santo Domingo East was estimated at RD$4,000,000 a month. Even the municipal council was involved, along with several houses, an LPG station, a gasoline station and a carwash.
Marranzini identified the business as "Templastisa", located on the Mella Highway in Santo Domingo East. He said that they had been stealing enough energy to supply 300 individual houses. The company uses 125,000 kw/h. Marranzini said that the full weight of the law would be applied in this case.
