Traffic jams have gotten worse in Santo Domingo and Listin Diario has an explanation. Vehicle flows are being affected by the disruption in traffic light synchronization on avenues that are undergoing major construction works. Listin Diario says that because of the problem, distances that can be covered in 15 minutes in normal traffic can now take 2 hours. The newspaper mentions that the Duarte Highway and Maximo Gomez, Nicolas de Ovando, San Martin, Luperon, 27 de Febrero, Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln avenues are some of the main thoroughfares that have been practically impossible to use during peak hours.
