Despite the legislation backlog, Congress is virtually at a standstill because, according to El Caribe, all the legislators are immersed in the political campaign for the 16 May elections. The last session of the Chamber of Deputies took place two weeks ago. In fact, in the two months that have gone by in the current legislative session, the Senate has only been able to session once and the Chamber of Deputies twice. While representatives of the political parties have a range of excuses, it seems that "everyone is doing it" seems to be the most popular.
