In the province of Santo Domingo, public perceptions of the candidates who are hoping to be re-elected are that they will succeed. Cristina Lizardo's PLD seat in the Senate, and the city councils headed by Junior Santos (PRD), in Los Alcarrizos, Juan de los Santos (Juancito Sport) in Santo Domingo East and Frank Feliz (Papote) the PLD mayor of Pedro Brand are perceived as sure-fire winners.
The answer to the question "Who do you think will win the Senate race for Santo Domingo province?" changes according to city, with the west favoring Francisco Pena (PRD), but the eastern zone places Lizardo as the top candidate and winner. Political scientist Cesar Perez said he felt that "the elements that we analyze seem to favor Lizardo when the fact that she influences the biggest municipality in the province, has her "barrilito" slush fund and access to state resources. Pena could pose a challenge as he is a strong candidate, despite only having campaigned in a very small area".
