The Police have arrested several individuals who were harassing and charging for parking in the area around the Santo Domingo Book Fair. The men were demanding payment of RD$100-RD$200 for parking on the streets. Hoy reports that the Police arrested more than 15 men who were extorting people attending the cultural event. The arrests are expected to serve as a warning to other self-styled parking attendants that the roadsides are not theirs for profiteering.
