All the DR's main airports have now installed the latest technology to help identify counterfeit documents. The airports contracted Foster + Freeman to install the VSC4Plus equipment to six airports in the country. They have also trained staff in using the equipment.
The VSC4Plus equipment can identify counterfeit documents in a matter of seconds. It can check for most security features commonly used to prevent documents from being forged, such as watermarks, holograms, retro-reflective images, UV-activated features, anti-Stokes features, ICAO coded data and invisibly embedded data.
It is equally effective in checking passports, visas, birth certificates, driving licenses and many other 'feeder' documents offered to the authorities in support of applications for passports and ID cards.
The equipment has been installed at the La Isabela airport and the Las Americas airport in Santo Domingo, the Gregorio Luperon airport in Puerto Plata, the Cibao airport in Santiago and the Punta Cana and La Romana airports.
