A nationwide poll of Dominican voters conducted by Venezuelan company Promoting Survey International shows that 39.58% will vote for the ruling PLD candidates. A total of 30.47% said they would vote for the main opposition PRD candidates, while 9.38% would support the PRSC in the 16 May congressional and municipal election, as reported in Diario Libre.
A high 15.36% did not state a preference, while 3.65% will vote for other parties and 1.56% said they did not know.
The survey was taken between the 12th and 16th of April in 384 homes in Santo Domingo, Santiago, La Vega, Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, San Cristobal and Peravia. Of the total number of voters interviewed, 68% were women and 32% were men. According to the data, at national level, 73% of those interviewed intended to vote, while 27% said they were not planning to vote. 60% did not believe that their situation would change by voting, while 40% felt that it would. Moreover, 62% do not feel represented by the congressional candidates and 55% do not feel represented by the municipal candidates.
