The Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD), the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD) and the Chamber of Agriculture and Biological Agribusiness of Haiti (CHAAB) have signed an agreement to develop joint investments. The entities will seek support from the European Union and the United States for the projects, which will involve a US$55 million investment. Eddy Martinez signed for CEI-RD, Gustavo Florentino for JAD and Gregory Mevs and Paul Duret for the CHAAB. They are planning joint ventures to promote farming, tourism, industry and the production of nursery-farmed crops for export, by setting up agribusiness nurseries in Haiti. They also agreed to work together to review laws on business, to encourage new investments and joint business deals, as reported in Hoy.
