The Assistant General Prosecutor for the Electricity Sector (PGASE) contradicts statements made by Jangle Vasquez Rodriguez in response to electricity theft accusations. The PGASE clarifies that his son Barry Vasquez Vargas and lawyer Ruben Puntier had said that Jangle Vasquez Rodriguez was abroad when he was being sought for questioning about the accusations. Vasquez Rodriguez was ordered to appear for questioning on 27 April. PGASE said that technicians found mechanisms that reduced the amount of power measured by the installed meter. He said that Vasquez Rodriguez had been asked to appear before Judge Gervacia Cid Martinez on 21 April 2010. At the time, his son said his father was abroad, which was later confirmed by lawyer Ruben Puntier who visited the prosecutor's office the next day.
Judge Moises Ferrer says he is waiting for Vasquez to appear before the department in connection with the electricity fraud detected at the substation located at the Templastisa premises in Vista Hermosa, Santo Domingo East.
Vasquez Rodriguez went public in statements to the press, maintaining that he is innocent of all charges.
