"Once more into the fray" seems to be the government's slogan when it comes to a wage increase for the nation's health workers, including technicians, nurses and doctors.
El Nuevo Diario is reporting that the government and the Dominican Medical Association (CMD) have agreed to continue their negotiations on salaries and other demands during a meeting next week. CMD president Senen Caba said that the negotiations with the government were "slow" and that they are waiting for Minister of Hacienda Vicente Bengoa to return from New York, where he is currently trying to place the latest issue of sovereign bonds. Vice-President Rafael Alburquerque told reporters that he thought that they would be able to meet by the middle of next week, after coordinating the meeting with Monsignor Agripino Nunez Collado.
