Raul Serumberto Reynoso Mota (Vantroi) is still in jail. Assistant prosecutor for the province Omar Alvarez placed an appeal that is being studied by Judge Olga Herrera Carbuccia of the Penal Chamber of the Court of Appeals of the Province of Santo Domingo. The prosecutor is requesting a year in jail as the cases against him are heard. Vantroi is due to appear at the hearing.
Prior to the appeal, Vantroi was not able to leave the jail because the insurance company that pays the RD$250,000 bail suspended the contract because of the lack of documents establishing his true identity. He is also known as Yeferson Nunez Tejada, according to Diario Libre. The president of the Compania Dominicana de Seguros, Ramon Molina Caceres sent a letter to Santo Domingo Province prosecutor Perfecto Acosta. Acosta told Diario Libre that Vantroi had three identities.
Vantroi was arrested after being deported from Mexico for trying to cross the border to the United States. He was deported together with Joel Bautista Vasquez (Pilito) and both are accused of leading a gang thought to be behind the murders of 36 people and injuring another 15, for a total of 51 known victims.
The Santo Domingo Prosecutor office says that on 2 July 2009, Vantroi shot and killed Daurin Manuel Luna and dumped his corpse on the side of the new Samana highway after stealing his motorcycle.
