Investigative reporter Nuria Piera says that Police Chief Rafael Guzman Fermin had lied when he said that Arturo Del Tiempo Marques had been dismissed in January together with some other 800 honorary policemen. She made the statement on her 'Nuria en el 9' TV show on Saturday night. Del Tiempo is under arrest in Spain for attempted cocaine smuggling.
Piera was able to confirm that Arturo del Tiempo Marques was still on the list. She said that if there has been a dismissal it would have happened after everyone found out about the Spaniard's activities in the DR, going on to say that it "appears he was doing it with all the official impunity that is required in those cases." In the list that she got from another source, Arturo del Tiempo Marques is not on the list of 806 signed by Chief of the Police Rafael Guzman Fermin. She said she is still waiting for the list after petitioning the Ministry of Interior and Police. She said that the Chief of the Police was not telling the truth when he said that the people on the list had been dismissed. She said that when Arturo Del Tiempo Marques was arrested in Spain he still was an honorary policeman in the DR who was dedicated to drug trafficking. The chief of the police admitted that his father had purchased one of the luxury apartments in the Atiemar high-rise apartment building promoted by Del Tiempo in the DR.
