The Fernandez government has launched a new media outlet. The new www.republicadominicanatv.com will broadcast Dominican cultural information and news via the Internet. President Leonel Fernandez attended the launch of the Internet TV station, which will be run by filmmaker Ruth Rodriguez together with Presidency press director Rafael Nunez.
"With an educational and cultural focus, Republica Dominicana TV is conceived as the TV of the future. It is a new way of government communication, and will be a way of sharing information about Dominican cultural diversity. It is an opportunity to show ourselves to the world," said Nunez, speaking at the launch.
He expects the new media to connect with the Dominican diaspora and citizens of the world who want to know more about the country. He said it would also be a modern mechanism for attracting investment to the country.
The new website staff of more than 50 have been working on the project for a year now prior to the launch. Nunez said the website includes 600 hours of programming.
