Civic movement Participacion Ciudadana (Citizen Participation) will be mobilizing a network of 1,225 national and foreign observers in 16 provinces, to ensure that the popular will is not altered before, during or after the elections. According to Hoy newspaper, PC executive director Javier Cabreja said that they have been working on the electoral observation for three months, and have prioritized the provinces with a history of election conflicts or the ones with a very large voting population. He stressed the fact that Participacion Ciudadana would be in San Juan de la Maguana, Barahona and Azua in the south-western region, and in the province of Santo Domingo and the National District. In the east, they will have observers in San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana and La Altagracia (Higuey). In the north, they will supervise Santiago, Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris), Espaillat (Moca), La Vega and others. Cabreja said that the observers have been trained for this event. Spain is supplying some international observers, as is Canada. The PC president said that they would issue bulletins after the morning voting session, at around 2pm, and another after the polls close.
