The Venezuelan government has reported the detention of Ramon Antonio del Rosario Fuentes, "Tono Lena", who is implicated in Puerto Rican fugitive Jose Figueroa Agosto's drug trafficking network. The arrest was made at Simon Bolivar International Airport, some 30 kilometers north of Caracas. Venezuelan Interior Minister Tareck El Aissami said that Del Rosario Fuentes, 41, is "one of men who is most sought after by the Dominican authorities". He is "responsible for one of the principal criminal organizations that operates in the Caribbean and moreover, he is linked to criminal organizations that transport drugs to the United States and Europe", the minister told Venezuelan State Television.
He said that the Dominican authorities had been notified of the arrest and that they would soon be proceeding with deportation procedures. "We are investigating his final destination and connections, we presume that he was going to use a false identity to travel to Colombia", he added, without giving other details.
