The judge of the Sixth Court of Instruction of the National District has granted a one-month extension for the District Attorney to present an accusation or file the case records in relation to the accused in the indictment of fugitive Jose D. Figueroa Agosto. Magistrate Clara Luz Almonte Gomez took the decision after hearing a petition from District Attorney Alejandro Moscoso Segarra in which he requested a four-month extension for the investigation.
However, the court only granted them one month, setting 7 June as the deadline for the District Attorney to file charges or drop the case. The people implicated in the case, Mary Pelaez Frappier, Eddy Brito, Juan Jose Fernandez Ibarra, Ivanovitch Smester and Sammy Dauhajre were present in the courtroom.
In another decision, the magistrate rejected a ruling to close out the penal action in favor of Pelaez and Dauhajre. She declared a petition made by the accused and presented by their lawyer Jose Rafael Ariza Morillo as inadmissible and untimely.
