just printed. saw this one a couple weeks ago. thanks for the reminder.

up top of the map where it says 10 min walk. is that beach area as well or just the sosua beach i should stick to? i like to explore as you never know where you might find a hidden treasure but at the same time im a young gringo that wants to be safe.

also what is LOS CHARAMICOS. a neighborhood or town within sosua? anything to speak of there?

thanks again.

los Charimicos is part of Sosua. Its to the west of the beach. el Batey is on the east side of the beach, and mostly tourist area. Together they are Sosua.

los Char is mostly Dominicans. Go to the light on the highway (by the el Caribe bus station) and take a walk down the hill. There is an ice cream store and a small colmado at the bottom. Grab a beer or ice cream and watch the world go by....

And at the bottom of that hill you can also take a right (going east now) and enter the beach from the los Charimicos side. Happy exploring.

Los Charmicos is where most of the Dominican live that work in Sosua. Opinions on the board vary as to opportunities and safety. Do some searches to get more information. Sorry if I come off as another Mr. Sosua. Also the map supplied to you was the starting point for my map.

Let me know the location and I will add them. Same as comments. I can add web site URL's, phone numbers, ratings etc. I have been searching for Big-D's and the references are usually "the beach". With more feedback I can continue to update. also the maps from the center of town to La Passions have discrepancies. Updates would be appreciated. (Cuba Libra, Big-D's on the beach, and Sabor).

Very good map. I am a long time lurker and first time poster. Coming back there next month for my second time and I decided to do a villa. Residencial Hispanolia is advertising they are walking distance to town. I do not see any housing developments. Can you point me in the right direction? If so how about Casa Linda?

I've stayed at Casa Linda before and its official. Hands down my favorite place to stay in Sosua. Only heads up is it won't make sense to stay here if you are going along. They only rent villas and they start at 2 bedrooms per villa so it won't make financial sense if you're traveling dolo. My brother and I will be staying there in a few weeks.

Another positive for Colin at Condos Dominicanos. He is one of the few managers willing to leave a nice breakfast to give a stupid gringo a jump start because he drank to much and left his rental car lights on.

Does anyone know how to save this to an android phone but be able to use it without data or wifi connection?

Does anyone know how to save this to an android phone but be able to use it without data or wifi connection?

the android maps app does offline caching automatically. if you click the 'save to my places' link on the upper left of the map page, you should be able to access it offline in sosua, but you may have to connect once while you're there for your device to cache it.

otherwise, there really aren't any good options. you could open it up on your pc and do a screen capture and save it as a jpg, but it wouldn't be at all interactive and it would be missing a lot of location data.
