The US Embassy's Franklin Center and the UNPHU University have announced a short course on Harmony, Composition and Arrangement for students and musicians. Dominican musician Sly de Moya is coordinating the program. Famous musician Corey Allen will be teaching piano and harmony at the course, which will take place from 1-26 June at the UNPHU. It is open for guitar, drums, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion and vocals. Classes will also be taught on musical management.
Corey Allen is a pianist, composer and arranger and digital music author. He has worked with Chuck Mangione, Dave Koz, Manhattan Transfer, Diana Ross and the St. Louis Symphony, among others. He has also written for film, television and theater productions, including the feature films Live Nude Girls and Just Cause and the television shows The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Eye on Hollywood.
Corey studied at Berklee when computers were the exception, not the rule. He has made a name for himself as a pre-eminent expert in the art of using high-tech devices to help create music. And teaches students how not to sound machine-like and perfect.
