Former President Donald Reid Cabral died at the age of 83 after a series of cardiac incidents. Reid Cabral was a figure in the anti-Trujillo movements and after the death of the dictator in 1961 he formed part of the National Civic Union. Reid Cabral was a part of the Council of State that governed the Dominican Republic from the fall of Trujillo until the inauguration of Juan Bosch. After the overthrowal of Bosch in 1963, Reid Cabral was part of the Triumvirate that was formed to govern the country. He eventually came to head the Triumvirate that lasted until 1965.
In the business world, Reid Cabral was the head of a major automobile importer.
