Two of the former administration's environmental officials involved in the dumping of several thousands of tons of fly ash from Puerto Rico generating facilities were absolved of any wrong-doing by a court in San Francisco de Macoris. Environmental Minister Max Puig said that such decisions "are what make the Dominican society lose faith in the justice system." Puig said that he hoped that the ministry would be successful under appeal.
