The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has ruled that all electoral campaigning activities need to stop at midnight on Friday, 14 May. At the same time, the sale of alcohol is banned, as well as the display of firearms in public places.
Advertising and propaganda is banned from all media, and political gatherings are prohibited as of midnight Friday. Politicians must desist from displaying any kind of propaganda at the voting stations.
Alcohol beverage sales are banned from midnight on Friday, 14 May to three hours after the polls close on Sunday, 16 May at 6pm.
Only electoral police will be working, with orders out for other military personnel to remain in their barracks or homes.
The JCE also ruled that the government could not carry out social assistance distributions from Friday, 14 May through Monday, 17 May. The measure was ordered to level out opposition parties with the ruling party.
