Frank Rodriguez, the head of the National Institute for Hydraulic Resources, INDRHI, announced that the problems surrounding the construction of the Guaigui Dam on the Upper Camu River in the Guaigui section of La Vega province have been resolved with the hiring of a new builder. Rodriguez said that the dam will cost nearly RD$2.2 billion and will be financed by a group of Scandinavian banks and the central government. Rodriguez says the dam would resolve the problem of flooding along the Lower Yuna Valley. Over a thousand hectares will receive irrigation water.
