The director of the Metropolitan Office of Bus Service (OMSA) has announced that as of 6am on Sunday and continuing all day until the polls close, bus services will be free.
The idea is to help transport voters in the congressional and municipal elections to the voting stations. OMSA director Ignacio Ditren said that this service would be available in Santo Domingo province and the National District as well as in Santiago, the DR's second largest city.
In Santiago, the usual routes from Canabacoa, Circumvalacion, Gurabo-Hato del Yaque and Central will be covered. In Santo Domingo, the routes along 27 of February, John F. Kennedy and Maximo Gomez avenues will be offering this free service. Also offering the service will be Los Alcarrizos route, the Los Rios route as well as the Charles de Gaulle over in Santo Domingo East.
