Apparently there is a national ban on the sale of alcohol in bars and colmados from midnight Friday until about 6pm Sunday, due to the elections.

Hotels are exempt from this.

Be interesting to see how this one plays out.

On another note a chica told me last night that many of the girls in Sosua would be leaving this weekend to go back to their pueblos and towns to vote.

I couldn't stop laughing!!!!!!!!!

Hell on the last US election, I was in Boca Chica. No one to vote for.
But I will be glad that the election will be over before my Memorial Day weekend trip. Last April trip they were running all over town with loud speakers. More than usual for Sosua.

that is true, dude. i was there during the last presidential election. sousa was dead. classicos and all the bars closed at 1. some of the
restaurants were closed because they could not get deliveries and essentials.

there were only a few chicas around. i caught a break. the chica that i was hanging out with decided to stay there and hang out with me.

36 hours is nothing. Stock up on booze and putas! Shouldn't be too hard.

Well, I can tell you that in Santo Domingo, they didn't pay much attencion to the ban, at least on Sunday(yesterday)

None of the colmados had their music playing, but there were folks drinking EVERYWHERE.

And as usual, the streets were littered with hundreds of thousands of plastic cups, just like any other weekend.

The lack of music really makes things feel subdued, like someone just died or something.

Apart from the restaurants and hotels Cabarete was closed for the weekend. Couldn't buy a beer anywhere.

Others have said the same for Sosua.

Although in Bonao yesterday it was rocking as usual.

I cant even Imagine no music in the Capital, esp in open air restaurants or the Calmados. Thats eerie.
