An earthquake registering 5.8 on the Richter scale with the epicenter recorded as 21.5kms from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico was felt in the eastern and southeastern coasts of the DR in the early hours of Sunday morning. The earthquake, which occurred at 1:16am, was mainly felt in the northwest of Puerto Rico, lasting for about 15 seconds.
Its epicenter was at a depth of 113.1kms. No damage was reported in the DR.
