24-year old Haitian lawyer Sarodj Bertin Durocher will represent her country in the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants in 2010. This year, Magaly Febles, who organizes the Miss Universe pageant in the DR, staged the Haitian version with 18 participants, after securing the franchise to organize the event in Haiti. The Miss Universe event hadn't been held in Haiti for 21 years, and there hasn't been a Miss Haiti in a Miss World contest for 36 years.
Miss DR Eva Arias crowned the new Miss Haiti.
News reports say that Miss Haiti, who lives in the DR, speaks five languages.
This year's Miss Universe contest will be held on 23 August in Las Vegas, Nevada.
