The executive director of the National Competitiveness Council warns that the recent failures in mobile communication services could mean an end to the competitive advantage the country has enjoyed up till now in the area of telecommunications, as reported in Diario Libre. "The frequent interruptions in calls, as has been happening lately, is putting at risk the competitive advantage in telecom service that the country had built over the years," he said. He said that telecom services had always been part of the national competitiveness strategy and that these failures are endangering investments in remote data services such as call centers, business information processors and others where optimum telecom is essential.
He said while on occasion the wireless signal is clear, calls are often interrupted or cannot be made because the lines are congested.
Problems affecting the largest provider Claro Codetel, now under Mexican administration, were unheard of when that company was Verizon.
