Since the legislature began on 27 February to date, the Chamber of Deputies has only met twice. The second of the sessions had to be adjourned for lack of quorum, reports Hoy. Political campaigning is all that the deputies have made time for, since most sought to be reelected. Hoy reports the legislators seem to have forgotten about their role as legislators.
Hoy points out that despite the almost zero productivity, the 178 deputies received their wages on time, on average RD$342,000 a month, not including all the other perks.
