The Electoral Police has taken control of the municipal election board in Santo Domingo East and the Central Electoral Board (JCE) suspended the counting of votes. The JCE ordered the intervention of the voting police after receiving reports of scuffles at the municipal board as some politicians tried to gain access to the computer center. As a result of the heated discussions, the Electoral Police were obliged to empty the room of all delegates, the press and even some of the people who were working there. The vote counting was suspended and is expected to continue this (Wednesday) afternoon.
