A company check from the La Francesa coffee shop was used to purchase one of the villas in Casa de Campo belonging to fugitive Puerto Rican drug baron Jose Figueroa Agosto, and which was recently confiscated by the state prosecutors, Presidential drug advisor Marino Vinicio (Vincho) Castillo told Listin Diario. The owner of La Francesa, Ruben Soto Hayet, was shot dead on Friday, 14 May, at the entrance of his coffee shop. News reports say he was the stepfather of Madelin Bernard, who was married to Jose Gonzalez, an accomplice of Figueroa Agosto who was murdered on 24 December. In that incident, Bernard survived the attack on her husband.
Castillo visited District prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso Segarra yesterday. "In the business unfortunately there is a check for one of the villas of Figueroa Agosto in which La Francesa is clearly involved and it is clearly the work of the daughter (sic) and her husband", Castillo told the press.
In the shooting, a watchman working for a betting parlor and an advertising agency messenger based in the plaza were also murdered.
Castillo told Listin Diario that the murderers have a modus operandi involving the use of a stolen vehicle to carry out their sinister purpose of securing silence.
He said that anyone who knows anything that could lead to the structure of protection and collaboration of Figueroa Agosto's cartel is in danger of losing their life.
As reported in Hoy, Castillo said that Figueroa Agosto was a frequent visitor to La Francesa, a popular coffee shop.
Commenting on the recent questioning of Madelin Bernard two days before the killing, Castillo believes that Soto Hayet could have reacted and "mentioned names that cannot be pronounced."
