The Senate increased from 16 to 19 the number of senators to benefit from state pensions upon leaving their posts on 16 August. The senators were voted out but the legislature determined that they should continue to receive 80% of their present wages. The Chamber of Deputies has approved similar legislation to benefit the ousted deputies.
