School breakfast evaluated

Education Minister Melanio Paredes says he has asked the Pan American Health Organization, the United Nations World Food Program and Unicef to help evaluate the school breakfast program that benefits 1.5 million public schoolchildren in the DR. As reported in El Caribe, Paredes says they suspect that some supplies may have been sabotaged, leading to the recent cases of food poisoning. Earlier this month Paredes announced the suspension of juice and milk supplies. He said the plan is to carry out the study in the summer months in order to be ready with correctives in place for the start of the new school year in September.
