An egg surplus should mean good news for consumers as prices drop. Chicken farmers say the excess has forced them to drop the price of eggs to RD$2 per large egg, and RD$1 per smaller egg. Consumer protection group Proconsumidor points out that the supermarket prices have remained at RD$176 for a carton of 30 eggs, or almost RD$6 per egg.
