In a rare coincidence two passengers have been reported dead for apparent heart troubles on flights to and from the DR this week.
Luisa Hidalgo, 67, died on Delta Air Lines flight 550 from Santiago's Cibao Airport to New York's JFK on Sunday. "A passenger was treated by a doctor who declared the passenger dead while the flight was en route. It appears to be of natural causes," said an airline spokesman. Two doctors who were on the flight tried to revive the woman who was traveling alone, according to the spokesman.
The other passenger was 56-year old Sonia Sanchez, who was flying to the DR on board JetBlue 821. As reported in Hoy, Sanchez became ill when the flight was about to land. She died when receiving emergency treatment at Las Americas International.
