President Leonel Fernandez has met with the president of Lombardy region, Roberto Formigoni, who is in his 4th term in government. The one-hour meeting, which took place yesterday at the Palazzo Pirelli in Milan focused on improving trade ties, infrastructure construction and possible educational programs. Lombardy, with its capital Milan, is Italy's leading industrial area and second top tourist destination, and the most populous and richest region in the country.
While in Lombardy, President Fernandez traveled to Brescia, where he met with mayor Adriano Paroli at the Santa Giulia Museum where an exhibition of the 200th Anniversary of the Independence of Spanish Colonies in the Americas (1810-2010) is taking place.
President Fernandez also met with the authorities of the Luigi Bocconi Commercial University that specializes in economics and the Latin American Studies Institute (Isla).
Fernandez is scheduled to return today on board an Iberia flight arriving at around 3:40pm.
He was accompanied by First Lady Margarita Cedeno de Fernandez and Economy, Planning and Development Minister Temistocles Montas.
