The International Bureau of Cultural Capitals announced today the 7 Treasures of Material Cultural Heritage of the city of Santo Domingo. These are four monuments in the Colonial City - Columbus Palace (Alcazar), the Cathedral, the Ozama Fort, the Museum of Royal Houses (Casas Reales), and then the Botanical Gardens, the Malecon and the Palace of Fine Arts (Bellas Artes). 18,420 votes were cast. The online vote was organized on occasion of Santo Domingo being the American Capital of Culture 2010 that is locally coordinated by the Ministry of Culture.
