It happens a lot, but people need to be made aware that lightning can kill. Yesterday a farmer was killed by lightening as he worked on his land in the La Paloma section of Villa La Mata, Cotui. Felipe Pena Marte, 44, was killed instantly by a lightning bolt as he was working with his machete. His worker, Haitian Fernando Yaque, 45, was seriously injured in the incident and is being treated in the Juan Bosch Trauma Hospital with serious head injuries. The Onamet and the COE are issuing warnings of both rains and lightning for the rest of the week.
