The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has maintained its yellow alert for 5 provinces and a green alert for 7 provinces and the National District. This is due to the effects of a low-pressure area located to the northeast of the island. The Meteorological Office (ONAMET) says while it will cause some heavy rainfall, the system is not expected to develop into a tropical storm. The provinces under yellow alert are Monsignor Nouel (Bonao), La Vega, Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua), Espaillat (Moca) and Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui), while the provinces under green alert are El Seibo, Duarte (especially the Lower Yuna Basin), Santiago, Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), Monte Plata, San Pedro de Macoris, Santo Domingo and the National District. Yesterday afternoon the COE issued an operational bulletin in which it instructed emergency relief organizations directors in the provinces of El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samana, Sanchez Ramirez and Maria Trinidad Sanchez to proceed "in accordance with the contingency plans and prepare the resources and equipment for evacuations" because they expected heavy rains. The organization asked them to pay special attention to areas that have previously experienced flooding. According to the report, the low-pressure area is being felt most intensely in the southeastern region and along the frontier. It is expected that this situation will persist all week, with rains falling mostly in the afternoon hours.
