The future of the Dominican-Haitian border is the main theme of a conference that started yesterday with the participation of representatives of several international organizations and international experts. The event is being led by the OAS ambassador in the Dominican Republic Anibal Quinones, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) representative Manuel Labrado and Pedro Esteva from the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF). Also taking part is deputy Pelegrin Castillo and Don O'Neil, PADF representative in the DR.
The conference comes shortly before the World Summit for the Future of Haiti: Solidarity beyond the Crisis set for 2 June in Punta Cana. Heads of state and government and representatives of multilateral organizations are coming to evaluate aid to Haiti and arrange for the disbursement of economic resources for recovery.
