Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) director Jose Tomas Perez recently announced that the country would soon be using modern software designed to detect irregularities involving pilots and planes. The Civil Aviation Security System (CASS) was designed and is administered by the Central American Corporation for Air Navigation Services (Cocesna).
"The idea is that the problem of the illegal trips and illegal practices that we are seeing in the airports can be approached in an institutional way, not only here, but internationally," he said. Perez made the announcement while taking part in the National Council of Aviation Security (Conasac) on the subject of "Illicit Air Operations." Also at the meeting were Armed Forces Minister Lieutenant General Pedro Rafael Pena Antonio, representatives of the National Police, the Air Force, Specialized Airport Security Corps, the Migration Department and the president of the National Drugs Council.
