Due to the forecast by the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) that predicts continuing rains over a large part of the country, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) is maintaining a red alert for the provinces of Monsignor Nouel (Bonao), Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui) and San Pedro de Macoris. Moreover, they are continuing the yellow alerts for La Vega, Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua) and Espaillat (Moca).
The COE maintains a green alert for Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris) especially the Lower Yuna Basin, Santiago, Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Monte Plata, Santo Domingo and the National District.
The COE also reported that 19 families had to be evacuated as a result of the intense rains in Paso al Medio in Ramon Santana, San Pedro de Macoris province. In the barrio of La Colina in the province of Espaillat (Moca), a house collapsed under a landslide. On the border, residents and civilian protection organizations are being advised to take the necessary preventive measures due to the rains forecast by Onamet.
The forecasters say that the low-pressure trough will continue to affect a large part of the country. There will be scattered clouds in the north, northwest, southeast and center of the country on Friday morning. In the afternoon there will be rain showers in the south, southwest, the Cibao Valley and in the east and northwest.
