I used 5 in the last 10 years. When the fare to DR is over $450 then its worth using one.

Then it would be worth it to me for EVERY D.R. trip!

(damn those lucky New Yorkers and their reasonable flight rates!)

Sure anytime you fly on American. What BEas was saying is the miles are awarded after you fly, not when you purchase the ticket, so you should still get them for this trip.

Tonto,

Forgive the stupid question I am about to ask.

How will I get the credit is I brought the ticket before I applied for the card. And how will they know to give me the miles when I didn't buy the ticket using the card.

Go on aa.com and get an AAdvantage number. This is how they track you as a customer. I think that's all you need Moshy.

I route bills and other expenses through the card to build up miles for a trip to Brazil or Thailand in the future.

And thinking about it you would have got one mile per $ spent on the ticket if you charged it on the card.

Give your Aadvantage number to the person at the Kiosk when to check into your flight, They will add it to your inttiary so you will get credit for the flight. Don`t forget to do it, cause its a pain in the ass to get credit for the miles flown afterwards, but still possible if you don`t loose your boarding pass.
