The Dominican Civil Aviation Institute (IDAC) announced the arrest of two pilots and two co-pilots yesterday. The men are being linked to the case of the small plane that tried to fly from Santiago's Cibao Airport to the Bahamas on 13 April. Colonel Cesar Cotes, general security supervisor for IDAC, said that the four Bahamian nationals were arrested when they sought permission to fly the plane registration N43RA and the release on bail of those who had been arrested when the flight was aborted. The four who were arrested had arrived on a private plane N585QT from Bahamas. Santiago prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso ordered their arrest. "They came to meet with the judge, but tried to catch the authorities unaware and take back the confiscated plane", said Cotes, adding that the plane was being held while the case is heard. The four Bahamians claimed that they owned the airplane, as reported in Listin Diario.
