The National Festival of Theater, organized by the Ministry of Culture, opens 7 June with the participation of 24 theater groups, 14 directors and 23 plays. The festival is directed by Karina Noble. It will last through 30 June at main halls in Santo Domingo and Santiago.
A warm-up will take place 2, 3 and 4 June with a performance of "Tres cibarillaos y la ultima lasana" by Brazilian theater company Embajada del Teatro Brasileno at the Teatro Monina Sola of the Centro Cultural Narciso Gonzalez.
Check out performances at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, National Theater, Centro Cultural Narciso Gonzalez, Casa de Teatro, Centro de la Cultura Ercilia Pepin in Santiago.
The formal opening reception will be on 7 June at the Palacio de Bellas Artes with a photography exhibition by Mariano Hernandez. The first play will be "La creacion segun Santo Domingo" by Edmundo Poy on 8 June at the National Theater.
