The widow of university professor Narciso Gonzalez (Narcisazo) is in total disagreement with the theory put forward by journalist Oscar Lopez Reyes in his book: "Crimes against the Press: Attacks and Censorship DR 1844-2007" that Narcisazo committed suicide. Altagracia Ramirez said that if this were the case, then the author needed to say where her husband's body is. She confirmed the accepted version of events that says that Narcisazo was kidnapped on 26 May 1994, a day after giving a speech at the UASD with severe criticism of then President Joaquin Balaguer. In his speech he gave ten reasons why he believed that Balaguer was "the most perverse man in the Americas". Ramirez expressed disappointment at the fact that the author has come out with this theory that had never been mentioned before a full 15 years after the death.
She asked why Lopez Reyes' book does not mention the Police officer who refused to receive Narciso's body because it was in bad shape. She says that if he had conducted thorough research, he would have had to refer to that and to the military officer who saw him before he died. She said that her husband had suffered from epilepsy and that his condition had worsened when he was "kidnapped." Journalist Miguel Aponte said that the version seeks to frustrate an Inter-American Commission of Human Rights investigation into the disappearance, as reported in Listin Diario.
