Gian Enrique Rojas Matos and Ricardo Perez Mateo, accused by the Police of being the leaders of the gang of contract killers who murdered former Police Colonel Jose Amado Gonzalez Gonzalez on 24 December 2009, Omar Lantigua on 31 January 2010 and Ruben Soto Hayet on 14 May 2010, have been sent to jail for a year as their case in heard. Their lawyers maintain the innocence of their clients and say they would appeal. The Police reported having discovered and confiscated weapons hidden in a business and in a house used by Rojas Matos.
The Police says that all three crimes followed the same sequence. The gang followed the victims, killed them from a stolen SUV and then abandoned the vehicle.
