[DR1] Drug consumption up for students

The president of the National Council of Drugs, Mabel Feliz Baez said that drug consumption has reached alarming levels in Dominican universities. She said the universities survey results will be released. As reported in the Listin Diario, she said that there are more than 20,000 known drug sales points nationwide. She said that the combating of drug trafficking is difficult because of the low funding of the organization. "The criminals are challenging the authorities and taking advantage of the institutional weakness," she told the Listin. She complained that there are many cases in the courts awaiting judgments.
