So far, more than 2,500 UASD university students have filled out job applications to join the Police, as reported in Clave newspaper. Of these, 903 have already deposited all the required documents. Interior & Police Minister Franklin Almeyda and Chief of the Police Bernardo Santana announced in June there were 5,000 job openings for university students. Previously, most entering the police had barely an eighth grade level. The deal is RD$3,000 for the first three months of training, then a first year wages of RD$6,500 plus a UASD scholarship.
